About Lara

Sydney-born singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and educator Lara King has spent her life weaving diverse sounds and experiences into her musical craft. From classical AMEB beginnings to performing with genre-blending bands spanning folk, psychedelic rock, pop, soul, and R&B, she’s become a commanding presence on every stage she steps onto.

After completing her Diploma in Sound and Audio Engineering in 2014, Lara expanded her work as a session musician and tutor. She has delivered one-on-one coaching, led string and vocal ensembles, mentored musicians and emerging artists, and brought music into therapeutic and community settings from yoga classrooms to Sydney drop-in centres.

In 2018, she launched LADY KING, her neo-soul solo project blending heartfelt songwriting with timeless grooves inspired by Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, and jazz greats like Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday. Her debut single earned praise from local radio, leading to sold-out Sydney headline shows and opening alongside both local and international acts.

In 2023, Lara made the bold move to Thailand to explore her cultural roots. Three years of headlining Bangkok's jazz clubs and five-star hotel residencies, at venues such as The Standard and Rosewood, honed her global edge, delivering sultry sets from cozy hideaways to high-energy nights. Now back in Sydney, armed with over 15 years of industry experience and a newly completed Bachelor in Sound and Music, she channels that worldly depth into every performance, lesson, and collaboration - ready to shape unforgettable musical experiences, mentor developing artists, and elevate any event.
